About Julia Rivera:
Julia Rivera has created a name for herself as a talented, multifaceted artist and a renowned art restorer. Rivera was born in the Bronx, New York in 1965, and has undertaken a significant amount of studying and exhibiting across the globe. She attended Escuela de Artes Plásticas in Puerto Rico, she then received her MA in 17th-century painting and restoration at the Studio Arts College International, Florence, Italy. Rivera has art in numerous permanent collections, including in the United States,
China, France, and Puerto Rico.

In her own words, “I have become a political artist: writing letters,
making calls, posting on social media and protesting. Our democracy is designed to speak the truth. My message has always been balance, peace and survival. I try to touch the world emotionally through my sculptures and paintings”.

The above words are testimony to the power of her works and her fierce commitment to creating a better world. Rivera’s works have a way of contagiously drawing viewers and creative minds, alike, into an inspiring space. This space reflects her passion for fighting against injustice while raising awareness about the need for equality and inclusion in society. Her recent works address themes such as climate change, the January 6th Capitol Insurrection, abortion rights, the erosion of democracy and the war in Ukraine.
