10 pieces of New York's best affordable original art

This weekend marks the culmination of a month that saw the triumphant return of art fairs to the city after a year’s hiatus (thanks COVID!). The Armory Show, the Independent Art Fair, Future Fair, Art on Paper, and Spring/Break Art Show were all proof that New York’s cultural life is finally (*knocks on wood) back on track.

For those of us whose budgets won’t quite stretch to a $240,000 Kehinde Wiley, this week's Affordable Art Fair in Chelsea exhibits works ranging between $100 to $10,000.

But we can do even better than that. Friend, feast your eyes on the MAISON 10 affordable art fair – 10 spectacular pieces of original art, all under $2,500.

1. EVA MUELLER

We have just a few copies of Eva Mueller’s magnificent Flowers & Chocolate book left. Featuring her fabulous photographs of black phalluses, each posed with a different flower, it reimagines the black penis as “a thing of vertiginous beauty.”

10. PAMELA CANZANO

The starting place for Pamela’s art came from her study of architecture, and a fascination with dimension, form, and texture. Using shades ranging from organic tones to pure primary colors, she then slices, scrapes and tussles to add texture, creating a work that is abstract, but often hinting at familiar shapes. White Skyline draws the viewer in, gazing at a distant cityscape as though through mist or bright sunlight.
