About the work:
To grow, we must consider the miseries and joys that keep us stagnant and decide whether progress is worth the destruction of what is familiar. The light embodies what may be sacrificed as a result of making change. When installed, the light can last indefinitely because of the protective structure surrounding the neon tubes. Disassembling this wall requires two people working together with delicate care. If caution is not taken the neon will break and the light will be lost. We are creatures of habit, and making change does not come naturally. Initiating something new requires mindful effort, and tactful maneuvering.
About Aaron Muntner:
Aaron Muntner is a sculptural and installation artist who works with glass and neon. They use glass aesthetics and capabilities as metaphors for people and relationships. The forms utilized in their work are minimalist but through emphasis of certain elements; light, placement, and weight they imply strain and emotional toll.
