MAISON 10 x URBANA CAFE + GALLERY
Urbana Cafe and Gallery blends the world of coffee and art in a cozy space nestled in NYC’s Chelsea art district. MAISON 10 has curated a new selection of artworks from local contemporary artist, Kalin Hart, who makes her solo show debut featuring original artworks to admire and inspire while enjoying a freshly brewed beverage (or two).
ABOUT THE ARTIST: JULIA RIVERA
Born in the Bronx and raised in Puerto Rico, Julia Rivera has over 30 years of working in the creative arts. Her career has taken her around the globe. She is a graduate of some of the most prestigious art institutions in the world. Her academic achievements include a Master’s degree in 17th-century painting and restoration from the Studio Arts College International in Florence, Italy. Throughout the years and multiple exhibitions, she has amassed a worldwide clientele, with her work gracing the collections of many high-profile art collectors.
Her work is driven by a desire to shine a light on key moments in the political history of the world. She uses her paintings and sculptures to express her voice. Many of her artworks are created to protest political issues such as the abuse of human rights in the Americas or the refugee crisis in the United States and the current state of the presidency. Importantly, her work is about strong women and respect. “I don’t want people just to stand and look at a pretty painting.
